done deal

finally. all the tests and retests are completed and passed. january 31st it is. i'll be less one kidney and my sister can finally be on the path to get her life back. the hospital was happy with my blood pressure readings, so they gave me the confirmation of the january 31st date. whew. i'm glad all that's over with. but now that the date is actually set, it's becoming real. i've never had any surgeries or any serious medical condition, so i'm a little nervous to be honest. i'm sure i'll start really freaking out about it in these coming weeks before the procedure.

anyway, onto other things, i ran a nice 5.2 miles last nite. the original plan was to get in 4 with darrin. well he abandoned me after 2 miles to go watch a movie with his wife. geez, how lame is that? well after he took off, i was feeling great. i stayed in the neighborhood since it was after 10:00 by this time, but even the endless redundant circles (look kids, big ben, parliament! - European Vacation, remember?) could not slow me down. i decided to tack on an extra mile just for the hell of it and finished the 5.2 total in 48:22, for a 9:18/mile pace. i was thrilled at the pace time especially considering i still felt great at the end. i didn't feel like i was pushing it at all. i could have gone longer if i wanted. i'll do an easy 3 tonite, and i can't wait for the long (8+) run tomorrow.

have a great weekend everyone!

Great movie, although not quite as good as the original or christmas vacation...

Nice run! I'll be saying some prayers for you that everything goes smoothly on the 31st!

How long before you can run again after the surgery?

Holy crap! Ok, that was the first words out of my mouth when I read your blog -haven't stopped by in a while- that's just amazing. My prayers will be with you and your sister and families these next few weeks as you prepare for the surgeries.
